Real Member Story: Starting a Family and Elder Care Matters

From estate planning to caring for elderly parents, the legal plan covers members for many common personal legal issues they face throughout their life. We receive feedback from our members regularly about the ways in which the legal plan has helped them with events in their life. Here is one story we received from a legal plan member about how an attorney helped her with family issues she faced.

The Hyatt legal plan allowed my husband and I to establish a will (after procrastinating four years). We now have more comfort knowing that our four-year-old will be taken care of if something were to happen to us.

I was also able to execute a power of attorney1 for my dad who was 81 years old at the time, which saved my family a lot of headache when he passed unexpectedly at 82. This is a great plan and I encourage all employees to participate.”

1. Plan member had additional legal plan coverage for her parents’ legal issue. Standard plans do not cover drafting estate planning documents for the member’s parents.
2. Example based on the average amount of hours it would take, using the average hourly rate of $338.00/hour based on years of legal experience, National Law Journal and ALM Legal Intelligence, Survey of Law Firm Economics (2016).
3. Rates may vary. This cost is based on the average monthly rate for a plan that covers employee and parent.
