WHO IS HYATT LEGAL PLANS?

Hyatt Legal Plans, a MetLife Company, is a leader in the administration of employer-sponsored and individual prepaid legal plans.  All of the clients referred to you will be members of our legal plans. Currently employees at some of the largest corporations in America have a Hyatt legal plan as part of their employee benefits. Established in 1977, we now serve 1,000 corporate sponsors and four million covered individuals.

HOW CAN MY FIRM BENEFIT FROM JOINING HYATT'S PARTICIPATING LAW FIRM PANEL?
As a member of our Participating Law Firm Panel, you will receive legal plan client referrals directly from us. Benefits of becoming a Participating Law Firm include:

INCREASED CLIENT BASE
The clients are referred directly to panel members based on location and practice areas.  In addition, we expect a panel member's practice to grow as a result of referrals from our clients.  Attorneys on our panel appreciate the number of referrals we send at no cost to them.

CONTINUED REPRESENTATION OF EXISTING LEGAL PLAN CLIENTS
Your firm may be already representing clients who become members of one of our legal plans. Joining our panel will enhance your ability to serve these clients.

INCREASED CASH FLOW
Many plans cover routine services like wills, powers of attorney and  closings. Covered services provided to plan members are paid directly by us, according to a set fee schedule. Clients are free to obtain covered services without the worry of fees. Participating law firms can count on timely payment, eliminating the headaches of collection.

When one of our clients retains you to provide non-covered services, you will bill the client directly at your normal rates after executing a written fee agreement with the client.  With all cases, including contingent fee matters, fees are not shared with Hyatt.

HOW WILL THE CLIENTS BE REFERRED TO ME?
The client will call our toll free number or access our web site to verify eligibility. At that time, they will be given the names of the attorneys most convenient to them. Clients may request a particular panel attorney. Clients call attorneys directly to make an appointment. All plans provide for consultations on most personal legal matters.  Additional services beyond the consultation will be paid by Hyatt Legal Plans or by the client, depending on the plan coverage. Because consultations are covered for most matters, you will see many clients you would normally not see for both covered and non-covered matters.

WHAT MATTERS ARE COVERED UNDER A LEGAL PLAN?
Coverage varies from plan to plan.  Almost all of our plans provide for consultations, wills, deeds, and other routine services. No company legal plan covers all of the services listed in our fee schedule. You will be referred clients for an initial consultation on both covered and non-covered matters. Services for covered matters are paid by us according to a set fee schedule for the service. You will charge clients your normal fees for non-covered matters.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BE A PANEL MEMBER?
Nothing!  Hyatt Legal Plans does not charge firms to join our panel. There are no initial or annual membership fees of any kind. The minimum requirements for membership on our panel are: at least five years' general practice experience, a current policy of malpractice insurance with at least $100,000.00 per claim coverage, no bar association disciplinary actions, and adequate staffing to operate a general practice law office.

IS THERE A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF ATTORNEYS ALLOWED TO JOIN?
We want our members to have a choice of attorneys.  We look for law firms that are able to handle all of the general practice matters covered under our plans. Our nationwide panel consists of over 4,800 law firms staffed by more than 10,000 attorneys.  Any attorney in a firm may provide services to clients. We look for full service customer-oriented law firms.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE CASE BECOMES OVERLY COMPLICATED?
Most of the services covered by our legal plans are routine.  We expect to pay our standard fees.  In extraordinary litigation cases, a panel member may request additional fees.   In all non-covered cases or contingent fee cases, clients are charged your normal fees.  You will provide a signed fee agreement before services are provided.

CAN I WITHDRAW FROM THE PANEL?
Yes, either party can terminate the agreement with written notice. Panel members are responsible for completing all work on cases in process.

WHAT SUPPORT WILL I HAVE?
Hyatt Legal Plans provides an easy-to-use manual that details the coverage provided under each plan. In addition, we assign each firm a panel representative to help with questions about coverage issues, billing and the various procedures under the plans.
