Hyatt Legal Plans Leadership Team

Hyatt Legal Plans is managed by attorneys who are familiar with the practice of law and are dedicated to carrying out our mission to provide convenient, affordable legal services to Americans. They have long tenures with Hyatt Legal Plans, having been with the company between 12 and 32 years.

                                                 

William H. Brooks is CEO of Hyatt Legal Plans. Mr. Brooks graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and received an MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School. Following employment on the corporate staff of Tonka Corporation, he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and practiced law at Shanley & Fisher in New Jersey before joining Hyatt in 1979.


 

Andrew Kohn, Vice President of Operations and General Counsel, manages the administrative and customer service departments and is responsible for quality control in the delivery of legal services. Prior to joining Hyatt Legal Plans in 1980, Mr. Kohn was in private practice. He became General Counsel in 1990 and an officer of the company in 1994. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the American Prepaid Legal Services Institute (API) and was President of the API for the 2004-2005 term. Mr. Kohn is a graduate of the University of Rochester and the Case Western Reserve University School of Law.


 

Michael Penzner, CFO, oversees Hyatt Legal Plans’ accounting and information systems departments. Before joining Hyatt Legal Plans in 1983, he was a Financial Planning Manager for Xerox Corporation. Mr. Penzner became CFO of Hyatt in 1990. He is a graduate of Grinnell College and the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago.





 

Marcia L. Bowers, Marketing Director, joined Hyatt Legal Plans in 1991. She holds a Juris Doctor and has implemented hundreds of legal plans for top organizations. She received an MA from Kent State University and a BA from Hiram College where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Prior to her career at Hyatt Legal Plans, Marcia was a television anchor for an ABC affiliate station and the broadcast production director at a large Northeast Ohio advertising agency, where she also played key roles in account management and new business development.


 

Robert Dzik, Assistant General Counsel, oversees the day-to-day recruitment, training and supervision of our nationwide attorney network. He is currently serving as president of the American Prepaid Legal Services Institute (API) and previously served as the organization’s treasurer and secretary. Prior to joining Hyatt Legal Plans in 1996, he was a private practice attorney. He graduated from Cleveland Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University and also holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University.


 

Ted W. Holcomb is the Director of Administration for voluntary legal plans with 4,000 or more benefit eligible employees. Prior to joining Hyatt Legal Plans, Ted was a Vice President of Operations and part owner of Rehabit/RISystems whose primary business was to help employees return to work after a disability. Mr. Holcomb is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a BS in Business Administration and an AS in Computer Technology.


 

Robert Nettgen, Director of Information Systems, joined Hyatt Legal Plans in 1999 and has more than 20 years of experience in his field. He is responsible for developing, maintaining and updating Hyatt's information systems and security policies. Prior to joining Hyatt Legal Plans, Rob was a consultant to Raycom Media and the Manager of Information Systems of Malrite Communications Group. In 2009, Rob became a Certified Information System Security Professional.


 

Greg Rolka, Controller, joined Hyatt Legal Plans in 1989 and, as Controller, is responsible for the financial operations of the company, including financial reporting, financial analysis and claims processing. He also manages Hyatt's employee benefit programs. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in business administration from John Carroll University. Prior to joining Hyatt, he was Controller for the Mr. Gasket Company, Manager of Financial Reporting for Revco, Internal Audit Supervisor with Scott Fetzer & Co. and a Senior Auditor with PwC.


 

Linda Schmidt is the Director of Administration for voluntary legal plans with 500 to 3,999 benefit eligible employees. She is also responsible for administering individual legal plans and enhancement products. Prior to joining Hyatt Legal Plans in 1987, she worked for Northwest Airlines for fourteen years. She is a graduate of Ohio University.


 

Chris Tomsa, Client Service Director, oversees the day-to-day operation of the Client Service Center. In 2010, he earned his designation as a Certified Call Center Manager from Benchmark Portal's College of Call Center Excellence. Before assuming his current position in 1997, he worked for Hyatt Legal Plans first as a panel representative, then as a Client Service Supervisor. He attended The University of Wisconsin and Case Western Reserve University.
